Juventus risk a nine-point penalty in the Championship

After being acquitted last April, Juventus Turin was tried on appeal on Friday in the story that links it, along with other Italian clubs, to a case of alleged accounting fraud during numerous transfers. They are accused of having overstated the selling prices of certain players and thus having recorded unjustified profits in their accounts.
It was the federal prosecutor, Giuseppe Chinè, who had seized the Court of Appeal of the Italian Federation to ask it to reopen the procedure after new elements had been discovered. This Friday, he claimed a nine-point penalty against the current third in Serie A, AFP learned from a federal source, confirming information from the Italian press.
Sanctions claimed against Paratici and Agnelli
Mr. Chiné also asked for suspensions against ex-managers of the bianconero club, including twenty months and ten days against ex-sporting director Fabio Paratici, currently in post at Tottenham, and sixteen months for ex-president Andrea Agnelli, who officially left office earlier this week. Sanctions remain hypothetical.
The Court of Appeal’s mission is to decide whether it agrees to reopen this file. If she accesses the right of appeal, she could then pronounce sanctions according or not to the recommendations of the prosecutor. These two verdicts are expected by Friday evening according to comments reported by AFP from a source who works within the Federation. During the hearing, Juventus challenged this request to reopen the procedure.
