Two months of filming in North America condensed into seven crazy minutes. Kilian Bron, who we had already followed at the beginning of the year in South America with “Fuego”, returns with “Cross Countries”, a dynamic short film – as usual – mixing natural and urban landscapes. On the program, minutes of thrills and action: speed, technique, jumps and moments of sharing with the New York community.
From the jungle to the mountains, Bron wanted to get lost in the great outdoors. “As in each of my projects, I want to add an artistic dimension, he says. We plan certain things, of course, but the meetings that we have had on site add that little something extra. In New York, we didn’t think there would be so many people. “We” is his team, small but efficient. A cameraman, a photographer, and a drone pilot. “It’s not a feasible project with ten or more people. We need to be flexible, efficient. »
“The jump over the train set was surely the hardest part of the short film. If I miss, there is 15 m of vacuum below! »
With a lot of preparation, Bron admitted to having to go over certain pages several times. “If I don’t like it visually, I’ll do it again. But sometimes I have to, in the sense that you want to have several angles on the same jump. We adjust according to the difficulty. For example, the jump over the train, it was surely the hardest of the short film. If I miss, there is 15 m of vacuum below! »
“There are stories of authorizations, of protected natural spaces. I get it, but sometimes it’s playing the rules to play the rules.”
Nepal in sight
After two videos on the American continent, Kilian Bron wishes to remind that Europe is a magnificent playground. “The pattern is very different. There, we are less free, more constrained in our movements. There are stories of authorizations, of protected natural spaces. I get it, but sometimes it’s playing by the rules to play by the rules. In Europe, we are used to being able to travel everywhere, and that’s what I like about my discipline. » After ” Fuego » early February, and Cross Countries” so in May, the sequel will take place on the Asian continent. “I have a project in Nepal in November, he concludes, but it will no longer be in the format we know. I want to create longer formats, documentaries. »
