Limoges eliminated from the Champions League after losing to AEK Athens
There was only a slim hope that the Limougeauds managed to reverse the trend and qualify for the rest of the competition. Tuesday evening, there was therefore no exploit: the CSP lost (63-69) at home against AEK Athens. His 4th defeat in as many games at the 2nd round of the Champions League. At the same time, the leader of group K, Malaga, won against Galatasaray (81-76).
Led at the end of the first quarter (14-17), Limoges had nevertheless managed to come back in front at the break (33-31) in a game that took the form of a tactical battle. But Massimo Cancellieri’s players lacked skill too much, like the only 60% success rate in free throws. Note, however, the 16 points of the captain of Limoges, Nicolas Lang, best scorer of the meeting.
The Limougeauds will play two more matches in European competition: in a week on the Malaga floor then in a fortnight against Galatasaray. AEK Athens, currently 2nd (3 wins, 1 loss) will host Galatasaray then Malaga.
