Marco Odermatt wins Kranjska Gora Giant and Specialty Globe

We take the same ones and start again, almost in the same order. SATURDAY, during the first giant of the weekend organized in Kranjska Gora, Marco Odermatt was ahead of Alexis Pinturault and Henrik Kristoffersen. This Sunday, the Swiss was faster than the Norwegian (+0”32) and the Savoyard (+0”70), controlling his lead in the second heat, where he only signed the 4th fastest time. But as Odermatt had largely dominated the first, he still remains on the same step of the podium, the first, and celebrates in style his second big globe in a row, insured for a few days and the package in Slovenia of his runner-up, the Norwegian Aleksander Aamodt Kilde.
This sixth success of the winter in giant gives him the globe of the specialty, and what is also his 11th victory of the season still allows him to dream of a total of 2,000 points in the general classification, the record held since 2000 by the Austrian Hermann Maier. This Sunday, Odermatt has 1,826 points and is due to play three races (downhill, super-G and giant) next week in Andorra in the World Cup finals.
Best time in the second round, Kristoffersen signed his 11th podium at Kranjska Gora but had to let the giant globe slip into the hands of Odermatt. For Alexis Pinturault, this second podium in two days between the big doors confirms his return to an excellent level in his favorite discipline. He was the only Frenchman entered in the second round, since Mathieu Faivre and Clément Noël had failed to finish in the Top 30 in the first.
