The Chilean has signed an additional season contract with Monaco. He is now bound until June 2025.
Chilean international defender Guillermo Maripan, 28, has extended his one-season contract with Monaco, with whom he is now linked until June 2025, the Principality club said on Thursday.
Arrived in 2019 from the Spanish club Deportivo Alaves for 18 million euros, Maripan has since played 100 games, in all competitions (79 in Ligue 1, 10 in national cups and 11 in the European Cup), and scored 11 goals in Monegasque colours.
“Guillermo has continued to progress since his arrival, sporting director Paul Mitchell told the club’s website. He is a fighter, a character player with an important role in our defensive system. Seeing him register for the long term with us is a sign of his ambition and his desire to continue on this path.»
The Chilean international central defender (38 caps) was approached this summer by various Italian clubs. On September 11, during the 7th day of L1, he suffered an abdominal injury against Lyon (2-1) after scoring a goal, and has not played with the Principality club since.
He should make his return to competition on Sunday against Nantes during the 9th day.
