Bronny Jamesthe eldest son of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, has gotten the green light from doctors to return to basketball, four months after suffering a cardiac arrest during a practice with his university team.
The James family announced Thursday that Bronny, 19, who suffers from a congenital heart condition discovered after his accident, plans to return to training with the University of Southern California (USC).
“Bronny got the green light from his doctors for a full return to basketball“, the James wrote in a statement: “Bronny will undergo a final evaluation by USC management this week, will return to training next week, and will play again very quickly after that.“.
Considered one of the best prospects in American high schools, Bronny James signed in May with the Trojans, the team from the University of Southern California. At the end of July, he suffered a cardiac arrest during training with his team and collapsed on the field before being taken to hospital.
LeBron James, the leading scorer in NBA history, a four-time champion and a four-time MVP, has expressed in the past his desire to play in the league with his son. Bronny James could be eligible for the NBA Draft (the scholarship for young players organized each year) next year, after a university season with the Trojans. Some analysts believed before his heart attack that James “Junior» was likely to be selected among the top ten in the 2024 Draft.
