The Frenchwoman will not see the third round of the Parisian Grand Slam in doubles this year, she who has won it four times.
The French Kristina Mladenovic, quadruple winner of Roland Garros in doubles, was eliminated in the second round of the Parisian Grand Slam on Sunday with her Chinese partner Shuai Zhang by the Chinese-Taiwanese pair Xinyu Wang and Su-Wei Hsieh 6-1, 6-4.
Title holder, acquired last year with his compatriot Caroline Garcia, Mladenovic did not make the weight this time with Zhang against the Chinese Wang and the Taiwanese Hsieh. Mladenovic, 30, also won in doubles on the Parisian ocher in 2016, already ociated with Garcia, then in 2019 and 2020 with the Hungarian Timea Babos.
Former hope of French tennis, now ranked 166th in the WTA, she never met the expectations that surrounded her career in singles and was taken out of the tournament this year in the first round by the American Kayla Day (138th) 7-5, 6-1. But she has a good record in doubles, since she also won the Australian Open twice, in 2018 and 2020. She is ranked 13th in the WTA ranking of the best doubles players.
