Museeuw doubts Evenepoel’s ability to win the Tour

The three-time winner of Paris-Roubaix admits his skepticism about his compatriot’s chances of future success on the Grande Boucle.

Johan Museeuw, triple winner of Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders, confided to the DH his doubts about the chances of Remco Evenepoel to win the Tour de France quickly (the rider from the Soudal-Quick Step team could make his big debut in the event in 2024). In Geraint Thomas’ podcast, “Watts Occuring” cited by La Derniere Heure, he explained: “It will be difficult to win the Tour de France this year. He has the ability to win the Tour one day, but for now, I’m not so sure. In fact, I believe that the riders who win the Tour are truly of a special caliber. There are only three or four riders who can win the Tour. Before, it was Chris Froome, Bradley Wiggins, you… And currently, it’s Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard. There are very few riders in the peloton who go to the Tour and can say they have a 90 to 95% chance of winning. For now, I think Remco has a 60% chance of winning. If he went to another team, he would have more chances. But that’s another subject.»
