Naples dominates Atalanta and further widens the gap at the top of Serie A

After the stoppage suffered last week at home against Lazio Rome (0-1), which came to end a superb series of eight consecutive successes in Serie A, Napoli, who received again, reacted perfectly by winning logically, at home, against Atalanta Bergamo (2-0). Luciano Spalletti’s men, who will have to validate, still at the Diego-Armando-Maradona stadium, their qualification for the quarter-finals of the Champions League against Eintracht (after their 2-0 success in Frankfurt in the first leg, February 21), thus total 18 points ahead of Inter Milan, beaten (1-2) at La Spezia on Friday. The third scudetto of Naples (after those of 1987 and 1990) is therefore approaching very quickly.

Not worried in the first period by the Dea, which now remains on four matches without success (two draws, two losses), the Neapolitans however then came up against an excellent Juan Musso. The Bergamasque goalkeeper repelled two fine shots from the left of Politano (6th, 42nd) and defeated Kvaratskhelia who had infiltrated the area well (28th), but who we saw little until the break, like the other star of the team, Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen decisive passer on the jewel of “Kvaradona”

They showed themselves much more afterwards. The Nigerian striker attempted a nice acrobatic return framed from the right on a cross from Politano (48th), who found him for a header just off (58th). His Georgian friend certainly first rushed by sending a resumption of the right well above (54th) then an attempt clearly to the side (57th). But when they combined, the result was sublime.

Thus, on a perfect service from Osimhen, Kvaratskhelia managed a sumptuous slalom in his purest swaying style, punctuated by an unstoppable strike under the bar (60th)! “Kvaradona” thus scored his thirteenth goal of the season (the eleventh in Serie A, and he also totaled thirteen offerings including nine in Serie A), on the fourth assist of the ex-Lillois (also author of 21 goals including 19 in Serie A).

Then to respond to the first (double) opposing threat (Gollini intervening against Muriel then Zapata, 73rd), Napoli managed the break thanks to a superb header from Rrhamani on a corner from Elmas (77th). Gollini will then intervene with authority on a shot from the left of Ruggeri (83rd) to confirm the impressive defensive solidity of Napoli who have conceded only sixteen goals in twenty-six days of Serie A, including only three in the last ten !
