In the shock of the 7th day of Serie A this Sunday evening, Naples managed to win on the lawn of AC Milan (2-1). Dominating in the first period, the Milanese thought they opened the scoring in the 13th minute but Olivier Giroud's shot was deflected off the bar by Alex Meret. The Neapolitan goalkeeper also had to remain vigilant on an attempt from Rade Krunic's header from a corner (28th), as did his French counterpart Mike Maignan on a header from Matteo Politano (36th).
Upon returning from the locker room, it only took one situation for Neapolitan winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to cause a penalty. Fresh off the line, former Barcelona player Sergino Dest touched the Georgian's foot in the penalty area and knocked him off balance. While he had initially signaled nothing, the referee of the meeting was called by the VAR and finally designated the penalty spot. Politano was then responsible for transforming it by shooting under the belly of an unlucky Maignan, to allow his team to open the scoring (55th).
The French carried the Milan
First countered by Giovanni Di Lorenzo on a resumption of the head (57th), Theo Hernandez then multiplied the overflows on his left side. One of them notably allowed him to serve back Giroud, who deceived Meret with a flat left foot to equalize (69th). The French striker who will find the France team on Mondaythen saw a new attempt with the left foot pass quite clearly above (75th), before going out a few minutes after receiving a crutch.
This is the moment that Napoli chose to place a new acceleration. Giovanni Simeone took advantage of his team's temporary numerical superiority to cross his head perfectly on a magnificent cross from Mario Rui on the left side (78th). A minute later, Alessio Zerbin tried to increase the score even more but his shot went over Maignan's goal.
Far from admitting defeat, Milan moved forward in the wake of their French. On yet another climb in his left lane, Hernandez found Giroud in the axis who followed closely for Pierre Kalulu. The young tricolor defender finally only found Meret's bar a few minutes from the end of the match (86th). After a last ill-adjusted header from Brahim Diaz (90 + 6th), the Lombard club had to admit defeat, leaving their evening opponent to take a three-point lead in the standings and come back up to Atalanta at the top of the Series A.
