Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid called for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be dismissed and replaced by someone else from his Likud party.
Speaking to Channel 12, which broadcasts in Israel, opposition leader Lapid said that the Israeli people lost their faith in Netanyahu after the attacks from Gaza.
Lapid pointed out that the public does not trust Netanyahu and said, “We cannot carry out an extended (military) operation with a Prime Minister in whom we have no faith anymore.” said.
Emphasizing that Netanyahu should leave his post, Lapid, without naming any names, argued that “there are many people in Netanyahu’s party, Likud, who understand that it is time for the Prime Minister to leave.”
“SAD AND SHAMEFUL”
Opposition leader Lapid stated that his party Yesh Atid (There is a Future) will participate in the comprehensive government that will be established under the leadership of the Likud Party led by someone other than Netanyahu.
On the other hand, in the statement made by Netanyahu’s party, Likud, it was noted that “it is sad and shameful to see Lapid acting according to his political interests in wartime and trying to overthrow the Prime Minister who is conducting the military operation.”
Labor Party leader Merav Michaeli, in his statement on the X social media platform, expressed his satisfaction with Lapid’s support for Netanyahu’s call for his dismissal. (AA)
