Paul-Henri Mathieu succeeds Sébastien Grosjean as captain of the French Davis Cup Team. He will also be responsible for the men’s delegation for the Paris 2024 Games.

Paul-Henri Mathieu, aged 41 and former world number 12, was one of the favorites for the position with Gilles Simon. It was ultimately the former 12th player in the world who was chosen. A fairly logical appointment given his recent career. The finalist of the 2002 edition was the High Level Director at the FFT from 2021 to 2023. I am very happy and honored to become the new captain of the French team and the 2024 JOP delegation, underlined in a PHM press release. I would like to thank the Federation and also the players and coaches for the trust they have placed in me. I am convinced that by combining the experience of certain players with this promising new generation that is arriving, we have all the ets in hand to achieve great things. My ambition will be to create a strong group spirit, share this confidence and support them towards success.”
