With school children holding up the banner at the head of the procession with the inscription “Let’s transform the future”, the special edition of the “Marcia Perugia-isi della pace e della fraternità” dedicated to the formation and protagonism of young people left from Perugia. In ten thousand, the organizers say, they set out in the footsteps of Francis to reach isi.

The «Youth March» as defined by Flavio Lotti, coordinator of the Perugi-isi Promoting Committee which has returned for the third time since the war broke out in Ukraine. During the opening demonstration of the March, where the ongoing tragedy in Emilia Romagna with the flood was also remembered, various speeches took turns on stage.
The councilor of the Municipality of Perugia Gabriele Giottoli welcomed all those present to the city of Aldo Capitini, creator of the March. Vice-President Roberto Morroni spoke on behalf of the Umbria Region, emphasizing that “an ideal impetus must always be alive even if peace is the result of a process between peoples and states”.
280 ociations are present and 150 local authorities from all over Italy have joined, thanked for their presence by the president of the Province of Perugia Stefania Proietti. Even Msgr. Ivan Maffeis, bishop of Perugia, wished “good progress to the peacemakers”. «There is an urgent need – he said – to establish non-hostile communication, we need communicators willing to dialogue in order to block the war psychosis. Among others, Enza Pellecchia, coordinator of the Network of Italian Universities for Peace, and Ali Sohna, a refugee, also spoke from the stage to remember the victims at sea. Upon arrival in isi (at 2 pm) an “educational pact” will be signed to invest in young people.
