The battle over pension reform continues. Guest of the Grand Rendez-vous Europe 1 – CNews – “Les Echos”, Minister for Energy Transition Agnès Pannier-Runacher has, in turn, pounded the bill emanating from the Libertés, Indépendants, Outre-Mer et Territoires (Liot) group in the National embly, which aims to repeal the increase in the legal retirement age to 64 to go back to 62.
“An unfunded 15 billion euro bill is unconstitutional,” she said, after Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne ruled last Wednesday that it was “unconstitutional”.
To counter the text that appears on the menu of the parliamentary niche of the Liot group on June 8, the presidential camp invokes article 40 of the Constitution according to which the proposals made by Parliament “are not admissible when their adoption would have the consequence either a decrease in public resources, or the creation or aggravation of a public charge”.
“Restore purchasing power”
“At some point, you will have to be responsible,” said Agnès Pannier-Runacher. “Let’s discuss the substance of the subject: how are pensions financed? Are we increasing contributions, and therefore lowering the purchasing power of the French? Are pensions lowered? she asked.
She did not fail to tackle Charles de Courson, the deputy of Marne, who tabled this bill. “He is the same man who, ten years ago, loudly wanted to retire at age 65. […] Today he has obviously changed his mind. However, we are living longer compared to ten years ago and everyone agrees that young people are entering the labor market later,” she said. “Those who are irresponsible today are the oppositions who put a bill on the table without telling us how it is financed. »
According to her, the questions that come up today have a lot to do with “the arduous nature of jobs” and “purchasing power”. She thus defended the new tax cut of 2 billion euros for the middle cles promised by the President of the Republic. “The challenge is to be able to restore purchasing power, in particular to those who work, to those who keep the country running,” she explained. “We have lowered taxes for six years by 52 billion euros. Thanks to this, France has become the champion of employment,” she argued.
The Minister also wanted to be reuring about the end of regulated gas sales tariffs on 1er next July. “It is not the regulated tariff that protects the French”, she underlined, recalling that it is a tariff based on market prices. Households “will in any case be preserved” from possible increases this year with the extension of the tariff shield, she underlined.
