Pensions: opposed to the reform, electricians and gas companies are already reducing production
It is a prelude to France’s “shutdown” day on March 7. EDF agents, on renewable strike against the pension reform project, proceeded in the night from Friday to Saturday to several reductions in electricity production. The drop represents nearly 3,000 megawatts, the equivalent of three nuclear reactors, we learned from the CGT and on the EDF site.
The strike movement was to begin on Monday, on the eve of the national day of mobilization at the call of the unions, but electricians and gas companies have advanced their actions on learning that the Senate was beginning debates on the abolition of special regimes this Saturday. Their renewable strike therefore began on Friday afternoon, before the examination of article 1, that concerning the abolition of special pension schemes.
The sector fears that its special regime will disappear and with it, in the long term, its protective status intended to compensate in particular for the time constraints of the profession.
Result: the four nuclear production units of Tricastin (Drôme) were affected this Saturday by load drops of around 2 megawatts, according to the EDF website.
The Flamanville 2 unit was “still in the hands of the strikers for the morning shift”, said the CGT on Saturday, while Saint-Alban 2 (Isère) also experienced a drop in production overnight.
“Until the win”
On the gas side, section 6 of the Martigues thermal power plant (Bouches-du-Rhône) “is still stopped by the striking agents”, causing a drop of “460 megawatts withdrawn from the network”, according to the CGT. These production cutsvery supervised by the manager of the high and very high voltage line network RTE, generally do not cause cuts for the customers.
“We have just called for generalization, including in hydraulics. It will be organized today, this evening and tomorrow Saturday, ”said Sébastien Ménesplier, secretary general of the CGT Énergie, to AFP on Friday evening. The movement will last “at least until 7 and at most until winning. »
