No decisions have yet been made on the formation of an initiative group to nominate Vladimir Putin for the presidential elections in 2024. This was stated by the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov.
Peskov noted that as the moment of announcing the start of the campaign approaches, this topic is increasingly attracting the attention of political scientists and specialists.
“There are no decisions yet. As soon as they are available, we will inform you,” Peskov concluded.
On October 24, Peskov said that the date for the Russian presidential elections has not yet been set, but they will take place in any case. According to him, the special situation, including in new regions, requires additional legislative initiatives and decisions. On October 8, the head of the Federation Council commission on protecting state sovereignty and preventing interference in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation, Andrei Klimov, said that the date of the presidential elections would likely be announced by the Federation Council in December.
Presidential elections in Russia are scheduled for 2024. According to the law, the procedure takes place on the third Sunday in March, so next year the elections could take place on March 17. The CEC has already begun preparations for the elections, CEC Chairman Ella Pamfilova said earlier.
