Programs like ‘Digital India’, ‘MyGov’ platform have become a phenomenal success story in the last nine years in creating a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy in India, Kamboj said at the event. He said that the Government of India has also taken several citizen-centric digital initiatives with a greater focus on enabling access to finance, credit, technology and employment for women.

She said that these initiatives have focused on providing great support to women in distress, preventing violence against women and promoting equal participation of women in every sphere of society. Giving an example, Kamboj said that the Government of India has opened bank accounts. More than 482 million people have bank accounts, of which more than 55 percent of account holders are women. During the Covid pandemic, this initiative helped in direct benefit transfer to nearly 200 million women.
