At a press conference in Islamabad with PPP Information Secretary and Special istant to the Prime Minister Faisal Karim Kundi, he said that no name has been shared with us for the caretaker prime minister.
PPP leader Sherry Rahman on Monday rejected reports that a name for the caretaker prime minister was being claimed to be finalised. He called it fake news. At a press conference in Islamabad with PPP Information Secretary and Special istant to the Prime Minister Faisal Karim Kundi, he said that no name for the caretaker prime minister has been shared with us, nor has the PPP taken any decision in this regard. No such agreement has been reached, at least no name has been finalized from our side, he added. We haven’t even released any names.
But yesterday some media reports said that one name has been finalised. He said it is not so. The party’s position of PPP remains the same as before which is our democratic position enshrined in the constitution that it is better if the caretaker government is non-partisan. Rahman’s clarification came after reports that the PML-N leadership wanted party veteran and finance minister Ishaq Dar to take over as the interim prime minister.
It may be noted that the media report on the previous day had claimed that the ruling Pakistan Muslim League is considering proposing the name of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for the post of Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan. The Express Tribune quoted sources as saying that the Pakistan Muslim League is considering proposing Dar’s name as caretaker prime minister as part of a plan to ensure the implementation of economic policies.
