President Zelensky: Rumors about Ukraine’s connection with the Nord Stream blowup suit those who suffered from the sanctions

Rumors about Ukraine’s connection with the blowing up of the Nord Stream gas pipeline may suit those who were opposed to the introduction of sanctions against Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday at a press conference.
“We have nothing to do with it. The Ukrainians certainly did not do it,” Zelensky said in Kiev after a conversation with Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin.
The president said it was “very dangerous” when some independent media, whom he always respects, spread such rumors.
When asked who might like such rumors, he replied that they are “in the interests of the Russian Federation or business groups that want strong sanctions not to be introduced, because their business loses on them.”
He added that Ukraine is fighting not only with its enemy Russia, but also with “those who see nothing but money.”
The New York Times, citing American officials, reported on Tuesday that newly acquired information indicates that after blowing up three pipes of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines (Nord Stream 1 and 2 are two lines of two pipes – PAP) in September last year a permanent pro-Ukrainian group of saboteurs. As it was added, there is no evidence that the group was acting on behalf of the Ukrainian authorities. (PAP)
