At the end of a 164 kilometer loop around Sant Feliu de Guixols, xxx won the first stage of the Tour of Catalonia. The rider from formation xxx settled the peloton in a sprint with some percentages. By moving ahead of xx and xx on the line, country xxx takes the leader’s jersey.
With four pes on the program, all rolling, five runaways took the lead after 7 km in this stage. Jetse Bol (Burgos BH), Alessandro De Marchi (Jayco-AlUla), Rune Herregodts (Intermarché-Circus-Wanty) Oscar Onley (Team DSM) and Pau Miquel (Equipo Kern Pharma) will have counted up to four minutes in advance but they were taken back six kilometers from the finish under the impetus of the sprinter teams. The fastest in the peloton did not want to miss one of their only chances of this 102nd Tour of Catalonia which has three summit finishes this year.
