Printemps du cinema 2023: let’s go for a new edition, but the ticket will be more expensive

Here we go again for a 23rd year… Spring celebrates cinema! This Sunday and until Tuesday, all the rooms will offer tickets at 5 euros against an average price of 7 euros. Small flat however, this preferential rate marks a jump of 25% since it was fixed at 4 euros last year!
“We had not changed the amount for seven years, justifies Marc-Olivier Sebbag, the general delegate of the National Federation of French Cinemas (FNCF), organizer of the festivities and which brings together 6,000 rooms. We are aware of the pressure of inflation on spectators and we stayed on an extremely low rate since it is 2 euros below the average. The cinema must remain a gift”.
No increase planned for the standard ticket
“This increase makes it possible to follow the evolution of costs, also explains the professional, recalling that the 7th art is a large consumer of electricity. For a cinema to work, you need film and light. However, both have seen their bills increase very sharply. But, he promises, “no increase in the ticket is planned for the next few years”.
Launched in 2000, for a ticket at 20 francs, “The Spring of Cinema” has become an unmissable event for film buffs, of whom between 2 and 3 million, depending on the year, take advantage of this attractive price to rush into dark rooms.
Last year, the festival attracted 2.15 million spectators, 70% more than the previous week. This year, the FNCF does not hide the fact that it hopes to do even better. It is true that since January, the cinemas have resumed beautiful colors with attendance up 40% over the first two months, or 33 million admissions.
