He could face up to 25 years in prison if found guilty of sedition and spreading false information. Kara-Murza Jr.’s lawyer Vadim Prokhorov called the case politically motivated. Kara-Murza Jr. has been in prison since April last year on charges of spreading “misleading information” about Russia’s military operation in Ukraine. He is accused of criticizing Russia’s military operation in Ukraine in a speech in Arizona, US. The investigating officers have also leveled sedition charges against him while in custody.
