Vannes, in the lead since the previous day and the only team still undefeated, was hanging on to Béziers (20-20) and saw Provence Rugby, short winner of Soyaux-Angoulême (21-18), come back to one point on Wednesday during the 5th Pro D2 day.
Vannes scored two tries by Joe Edwards (30th) and Francisco Gorrissen, and Béziers three by Gabin Lorre (67th, 85th) after a first penalty (56th).
Valence-Romans climbs onto the podium (3rd) after its big victory at home at the expense of Brive (45-10), with 5 tries, compared to just one for the Corréziens.
The offensive bonus point allows the Drôme team to move ahead of Agen (4th), who had dominated Nevers 40-30 on Tuesday evening at the opening of the 5th day.
At the bottom of the ranking, the last three before the day all won, Dax against Colomiers (25-6), Aurillac against Grenoble (27-23) and Mont-de-Marsan which went to beat Biarritz 37-17 in evening.
The Basque team finds itself last in the standings, tied on points with Rouen (15th and penultimate), beaten 23-16 in Montauban (5th).
