The People’s Council of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) elected Denis Pushilin to the post of head of the region, which Pushilin himself spoke about in his Telegram channel.
“On the recommendation of the President of the Russian Federation, today he was elected by deputies of the People’s Council of the DPR to the post of head of the Donetsk People’s Republic. “My gratitude to our leader Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin for his comprehensive support,” said Pushilin.
The ceremony during which the voting results were announced was attended by First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Sergei Kiriyenko.
“I’m proud to be part of this team. I’m ready to serve my fellow countrymen, Donb, Russia,” added Pushilin.
Earlier, on September 23, Vladimir Saldo took office as governor of the Kherson region, in addition, the parliament of the Zaporozhye region elected Evgeniy Balitsky as the head of the region.
On September 30, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the leaders of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions signed agreements on the regions’ inclusion in Russia. The head of state emphasized that residents of these regions “become citizens of the Russian Federation forever.” In February, Putin called for new territories to reach national level by 2030.
