Quinn Simmons traps the sprinters during the 3rd stage of the Tour of San Juan

While the 3rd stage of the Tour of San Juan disputed on Tuesday around the Villicum de San Juan autodrome seemed promised to the sprinters, the young American Quinn Simmons (21 years old) came to thwart the forecasts by winning by a short header ahead of Argentinian Maximiliano Richeze (Argentina selection) and Irishman Sam Bennett (Bora-Hansgrohe).

At the end of a stage completely devoid of difficulty and run again in overwhelming heat (36 degrees), Simmons boldly tried his luck one kilometer from the finish by launching himself at the front then resisting forcefully until to the line as the peloton returns.

Third in the stage, Bennett managed to keep his leader’s jersey before a 4th stage between Villicum de San Juan and Barreal, Wednesday, which should logically do the business of the sprinter teams. Unless Simmons’ stunt of the day is emulated.
