It is a defeat that will probably remain anecdotal for FC Barcelona. Whatever the result, the Blaugrana public had planned to celebrate the title acquired last weekend, following the reception of Real Sociedad. But more than a match, the Catalans miss the opportunity to end their season without any defeat in their lair.
From the start, the champion was surprised by the Basque visitors. Jules Koundé’s loss of the ball, directly at the feet of Alexander Sorloth, cost Barça dearly. The Norwegian swallowed the space in front of him, before perfectly shifting Mikel Merino, author of the opener (1-0, 5th). Faced, once again, with a decisive Ter Stegen, Sociedad missed the opportunity to return to the locker room with the break (28th, 30th, 45th). The second act, much more choppy, has dropped in intensity. On a good service from Martin Zubimendi, hyperactive on the meeting, Sorloth definitely put his people away (2-0, 72nd). At the very end of the game, La Liga top scorer Robert Lewandowski reduced the gap (1-2, 90th), bringing his number of goals to 22.
Thanks to these three points taken on the lawn of the champion, Real Sociedad (4th) distance Villarreal (5th) by five units, and consolidates its qualifying place for the next Champions League.

Barcelona conceded 2 goals tonight, as many as in their entire season at home (2 goals conceded in the first 17 matches at Camp Nou).
Player: Alexander Sorloth
If the spoilsport of the evening had a name, it would probably be Alexander Sorloth. The Norwegian punished Jules Koundé from the outset, displaying his physical power in recovery, before making his speed speak to attack the depth and offer the goal ball to Mikel Merino. With a cross shot on the ground from the left, number 19 then showed his accuracy in front of the cages, to score the goal of the break. The former Crystal Palace player has scored his eleventh goal in 31 games this season.
