The French start-up Verkor announced Thursday that it had raised “more than 2 billion euros” to finance the installation, in Dunkirk, of a battery gigafactory. A strategic sector for the automotive sector that Europe is striving to build.
Verkor has raised the record amount of “at least 850 million euros” from private investors, to which is added a public subsidy of around 650 million euros and 600 million euros in funding from the European Investment Bank, according to a company press release.
News which the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, welcomed. “With the support of France 2030 and the European Union, this is a new record for a French start-up,” he wrote on his X account (formerly Twitter).
