The Office of Rospotrebnadzor in the Sverdlovsk region recommended that residents reduce their time on the street or use masks and respirators, as well as refrain from walking with children. The corresponding statement was published on May 21 in the department’s Telegram channel.
Residents of the Sverdlovsk region have previously complained about the smog and the smell of burning that covered the region due to forest fires. Sanitary doctors also advised citizens not to play outdoor sports, do not open windows and use humidifiers at home, or regularly carry out wet cleaning.
In addition, you should not wear contact lenses and smoke, it is recommended to drink more, wash your eyes, nose and throat, Rospotrebnadzor reported.
The ministry also reported that due to smoke, air quality control is being carried out in Yekaterinburg, Rezha, Berezovsky and Verkhnyaya Pyshma, experts take and examine samples for 16 indicators.
In the Sverdlovsk region, fires began at the end of April. Then a high alert mode was introduced in the region, and an emergency mode was introduced in the village of Sosva. Later, the authorities estimated the cost of restoring houses and infrastructure in the region at 2 billion rubles.
On the morning of May 21, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the region reported that 12 natural fires had been eliminated over the past day, 32 more continue to operate, 12 of them are localized. On Saturday, eight aircraft were involved in the extinguishing, including Be-200 and Il-76 aircraft of the Russian Emergencies Ministry. In total, 578 tons of water were dumped on the centers of natural fires, the Ministry of Emergency Situations said. According to the latest information from the department, there is no threat of the fire spreading to settlements.
