O Rio Grande do Sul will have the Two cyclones occur in a row this week. O alert is from the Coordinator of the Geography Course at the School of Humanities of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (Pucrs), Luciano Zo, highlighting that the prognoses show the occurrence of the phenomena between this Monday (11) and Tuesday and from Wednesday (13) to Thursday (14) in the State.
O first cyclone already forms between the night of Monday (11) and Tuesday (12). According to Zo, the climatic event will p further into the Ocean and the winds will be more concentrated on the coast of Rio Grande do Sul. “It won’t be the strongest, but it will bring more wind, a lot of sea agitation to the coastal area and rain”, he highlights.
However, according to Zo, meteorological forecasts indicate that the second cyclone that forms from Wednesday to Thursday will be very close to the coast of Rio Grande do Sul. “We will have very strong winds in the eastern part of Rio Grande and throughout the Rio Grande do Sul coast”, he highlights.
In this Monday the tendency is for heavy rain in the region of the Campaign and in the South and West Border. On Tuesday, instability spreads across the state and arrives in Porto Alegre along with a south wind that could be strong. On Wednesday, rain is widespread throughout the State and in some areas with a very significant volume of around 30mm to 50mm, mainly in the Center of the State and hitting the Porto Alegre region in full.
Residents of the islands (Grande dos Marinheiros, Pavão, Pintada and Flores) should be alert – there is a forecast that the Guaíba will rise because the south wind will be quite strong ociated with the rain and the rivers that are already very high in the Serra region that flow into the Guaíba. Warning of high volumes of rain and storms
O Rio Grande do Sul may have high volumes of rain and storms in the coming daysespecially in the Southern Half. The warning appears in the weather report from the State government’s Situation Room, coordinated by Civil Defense and the Secretariat for the Environment and Infrastructure (Sema).
Between Monday (11) and Friday (15), there is a risk of heavy rain in most regions. Meteorologist Cátia Valente explains that heavy precipitation occurs due to the combination of systems with reinforcement of the El Niño climate phenomenon. “At this time of year, it is normal for the rains to start having greater frequency and intensity because of the flow of moisture that comes from the north of Brazil, brought to altitude by the winds”, he explains.
