The second plane of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations flew to Libya to help eliminate the consequences of the flood. The press service of the department reported this.
The head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, sent 50 rescuers from the Center for Special Risk Rescue Operations “Leader” on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Specialists carry with them rescue tools, watercraft, and diving equipment.
The department’s press service also reported that an airmobile hospital from the Tsentrospas detachment was sent to Libya. The complex consists of several modules that unfold in 40 minutes. It consists of surgical dressing and theutic units. About 35 specialists will provide istance to the victims.
Earlier, on September 15, an Il-76 plane with humanitarian aid flew to Libya, which was hit by floods. Tents, blankets, mobile power stations, lighting systems and emergency rescue kits were loaded on board for work in the emergency zone.
On September 10, northeastern Libya experienced flooding caused by Hurricane Daniel. The coastal cities of Derna, Jabal al-Akhdar and others suffered the most. As of September 14, more than 11,000 people were killed, and another 20,000 are missing. On September 12, Putin expressed condolences over the numerous casualties and large-scale destruction in Libya. The President emphasized that Russia is ready to provide istance to the country.
