Former Dutch international Ruud Van Nistelrooy (46) has decided to step down as head coach of PSV Eindhoven with immediate effect, the club announced on Wednesday. PSV won the Dutch Cup and point to second place in the Championship one day to go, but the coach’s working methods were not unanimous within the club, local media reported.
“After several discussions on internal matters that have taken place in recent weeks, a meeting took place on Tuesday evening between the management and Van Nistelrooy”the club said in a statement. “It has been decided to focus on next Sunday’s match against AZ (Alkmaar) and keep talking after the season”but “Van Nistelrooy reported this (Wednesday) morning that in his opinion there was not enough support within the club to continue any longer”, explained the PSV.
