AS Saint-Etienne beat Dunkirk 2-0 on Wednesday in a late match of the 8th day of Ligue 2, in a lively encounter which was resolved thanks to a penalty goal in the 82nd minute.
The Greens and the Dunkirk went blow for blow, in a match with 35 shots, including 20 for Saint-Etienne, before Ibrahim Sissoko, who entered in the 71st minute, unlocked the score on a penalty ten minutes later (82nd) after a risky outing from forty-year-old goalkeeper Arnaud Balijon.
Saint-Etienne doubled the lead straight away with a magnificent full-axis free kick, 20 meters from the goal, from Mathieu Cafaro (86th).
The Greens thus glean three points and climb two places to settle in fifth place with 17 points, five points behind the leader, Laval. Dunkirk remains 18th, in a relegation position.
