Serie A: Naples stalls at Bologna

On the Bologna pitch, Naples could not do better than the draw (0-0).

Defending champion Naples had to settle for the point of a draw (0-0) in Bologna during the 5th day of the Italian Championship on Sunday.

Napoli are now 7th with eight points, seven lengths behind the leader, Inter, winner earlier in the day at Suolo (1-0) and author of a flawless performance.

The team coached by Rudi Garcia dominated but Victor Osimhen, top scorer in Serie A last season, found the post in the 5th minute, then missed a penalty in the 72nd minute.

The Nigerian striker, coveted by the biggest European clubs this summer, made a gesture of humor towards his coach when he was replaced in the 86th minute.

The other Naples scorer, the Georgian Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, was unsuccessful in the last gesture and extended his goal drought which has lasted since March.

This result, which follows a defeat and a draw during the previous two days, will increase the pressure on Garcia, who is widely criticized by Naples supporters.

Napoli is however the only one of the four Italian teams to have won in the Champions League this week, a success in Braga (2-1) with it is true a lot of success and an own goal from the Portuguese in the final.

Naples, in the middle of a marathon of seven matches in 23 days, hosts Udinese on Wednesday as part of the 6th day of the Italian Championship, played in the middle of the week.
