Shiffrin has ‘no words’ after breaking World Cup winning record

Mikaela Shiffrin couldn’t find the words after his 83rd World Cup victory in the Kronplatz giant slalom. With this victory, she broke Lindsay Vonn’s record for victories in women’s skiing.

Mikaela Shiffrin at the microphone of Eurosport: “It’s hard to find the words, actually. I don’t think there are words to explain all these feelings, because during a day it’s both stressful, sometimes calmer, sometimes nervous. These days, with two runs, are long days, they are exhausting. It can’t be explained, I just tried to breathe and enjoy it. It’s an incredible level in these competitions, you always have to push to the limit, but if you make a mistake, big enough, you’re out of the podium and out of victory… You have to take risks. What pleases me the most is that there are still two rounds tomorrow (Wednesday, second giant at Kronplatz), because there are very good conditions (…) This morning I saw the workers lined up, ready to prepare the track, and these are the best conditions we have had in racing this season, which is not nothing coming from Cortina d’Ampezzo. It’s because they were there all night preparing for the race. So thanks !»
