Super Bowl – Usher headlines the halftime show

R&B star Usher will perform during the Super Bowl halftime concert. The final of the NFL American football league is scheduled for February 11 in Las Vegas.

Since releasing his debut album in 1994, Usher, 44, has sold more than 80 million records worldwide, topping the charts and winning eight Grammy Awards, considered by many to be the most prestigious in the music industry.

Billboard magazine named him the second most successful artist of the 2000s.

“It’s the greatest honor of my life to finally check the Super Bowl off my bucket list. I can’t wait to show the world a performance unlike any they’ve seen from me before,” Usher’s statement read.

The Super Bowl is the most watched event on American television every year and is of key importance to the advertising sector. 30-second spots cost millions of dollars.

Last year, the headliner of the halftime concert was Rihanna. In a spectacular performance, she appeared suspended on a platform above the pitch – it was her first solo concert in seven years. (PAP)
