A 17-year-old teenager was indicted for attempted murder and placed under judicial supervision after a brawl between rival gangs during which another teenager was seriously injured on Tuesday in Brunoy (Essonne), announced Friday May 19 the parquet floor of Evry.

According to a source close to the case, a fight broke out between several dozen young people from the districts of Tournelles, Yerres, and Mardelles, Brunoy, two neighboring towns of Essonne, about twenty kilometers south-east of Paris. A young Yerrois was stabbed in the stomach.

Hit in the liver, he was airlifted in absolute emergency to a Parisian hospital. Thursday evening, his vital prognosis was still engaged. Ice breaking hammers were found at the scene of the clash. Four minors aged 16 and 17 were arrested: two from Yerres and two from Brunoy. One of the latter admitted having stabbed him, but denied having done so voluntarily.

Indicted on Thursday for attempted murder at the end of his police custody, he was also placed under the status of isted witness in the part linked to the voluntary violence of the case. The prosecution, which had requested his placement in pre-trial detention, appealed his judicial review. The other three suspects were charged with intentional violence. They were also placed under judicial control.

The department of Essonne, in the south of Ile-de-France, is regularly the scene of clashes between gangs of young teenagers from “rival” cities. These brawls, sometimes very violent and without apparent reason, can prove fatal. In 2020, a quarter of the brawls recorded in France took place in Essonne. In 2021, 129 clashes were recorded there. Three youths, two of them 14, were killed there that year.
