Tension is rising in the region… Azerbaijan warned, Armenia made a statement

A new crisis has emerged between Azerbaijan and Armenia due to the Karabakh region.

In the statement made by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was reminded that the Armenian armed forces in the Karabakh region resorted to a series of large-scale military provocations and terrorist attacks.

In the statement, it was pointed out that civilians and military personnel lost their lives and were injured as a result of the explosion of mines previously laid by Armenian intelligence and sabotage groups on the Ahmedbeyli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway for terrorist purposes, and it was stated that Azerbaijani army units were opened fire with mortars and light weapons, and two soldiers were injured.

“MEASURES TO FIGHT LOCAL TERRORIST HAVE BEEN STARTED”

In the statement, it was emphasized that the Armenian armed forces strengthened their combat positions and made their troops ready for war at a high level in order for such provocations to continue, and the following was noted:

“Preventing the large-scale provocations expected by the Armenian armed forces in the Karabakh region, as well as ensuring the implementation of the provisions of the triple declaration, disarming the units of the Armenian armed forces and withdrawing from our territory, neutralizing their military infrastructure, ensuring the security of civilians and our military personnel, including civilian workers involved in the construction works in the region.” “Local anti-terrorism measures have been initiated in the region in order to provide security and re-establish the constitutional structure of the Republic of Azerbaijan.”

“ARMENIAN PEOPLE SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM MILITARY TARGETS”

It was stated in the statement that the front lines and deep positions of the Armenian armed forces, long-term firing points, combat vehicles and military objects were destroyed with high-precision weapons during the operation. “The target of the measures taken is completely illegal military formations and military infrastructure. The Azerbaijani side does not target civilians in any case. In this regard, the Armenian civilian population should stay away from military targets.” expressions were used.

In the statement, it was reminded that the Azerbaijani side has repeatedly stated that the continued presence of Armenian armed forces in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, contrary to the provisions of the tripartite declaration signed on November 10, 2020, poses a serious threat to regional peace and stability. “The only way to ensure peace and stability in the region is through Armenian armed forces.” “The unconditional and complete withdrawal of Azerbaijani forces from the Karabakh region and the release of the so-called regime.” statements were included.

ARMENIAN ARMY’S SHELTERS AND POWER PLANT WERE HIT

A briefing was held by the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan at the Department of International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of Defense for foreign military attachés and representatives of international organizations accredited in the Republic of Azerbaijan about the anti-terrorist operation in the Karabakh region.

Speaking at the meeting, Major General Hussein Mahmudov, Head of the Department of International Military Cooperation, said that the aim of the anti-terrorist operation is to ensure the provisions of the triple declaration signed on November 10, 2020, to prevent large-scale provocations in the Karabakh economic zone, to disarm the units of the Armenian armed forces and withdraw them from Azerbaijani territory, to neutralize their military infrastructure. He stated that the aim is to introduce and repair the constitutional structure of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In his statement, Major General Mahmudov particularly emphasized that the Azerbaijani army did not target the civilian population and civilian infrastructure facilities, and only legitimate military targets were destroyed using high-precision weapons.

In the information message from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense, it was stated that the shelters and military equipment belonging to the Armenian armed forces units and the military radio-technical power plant were neutralized.

“THERE IS NO ARMENIAN ARMY IN NANOTHERN KARABAKH”

Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan made a statement on his social media account after the anti-terrorist operation launched by Azerbaijan in the Karabakh region.

Stating that the situation is currently calm on the Armenia-Azerbaijan conditional border line, Pashinyan claimed that Azerbaijan aims to draw Armenia into war with the anti-terrorist operation it initiated.

Pashinyan said, “As I said before and I will say now, the main and fundamental goal and purpose of this operation is to include the Republic of Armenia in military operations. “I would like to record once again that the Republic of Armenia is not involved in military operations and there is no army of the Republic of Armenia in Nagorno-Karabakh.” he claimed.

“RUSSIA DID NOT PROVIDE INFORMATION”

Pashinyan claimed that Azerbaijan informed Russia about this operation, but Russia did not inform them.

Claiming that there are a number of internal and external forces that want to involve Armenia in large-scale military operations, Pashinyan said: “Attempts to involve the Republic of Armenia in a military tension are unacceptable for us.” he said.

RUSSIA: WE ARE CONCERNED

Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov made evaluations to journalists in the capital Moscow about the anti-terror operation launched by Azerbaijan to re-establish the constitutional structure in Karabakh.

Stating that they are concerned about the situation in Karabakh, Peskov said: “We are concerned about the sharp increase in tension and the start of military action.” he said.

Stating that Azerbaijan and Armenia must comply with the tripartite agreements signed with Russia, Peskov said, “The only essential basis is the tripartite documents signed between Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. We call on everyone to comply with the provisions of these documents, taking into account the facts. We mean the fact that the Armenian side recognized Azerbaijan’s territory as of 1991.” said.

Peskov noted that they continue contacts with Baku and Yerevan for a diplomatic solution to the situation in the region. (AA)
