A competitor crashed head-on into a stationary Aston Martin during the free practice session on Wednesday.

Big scare on the track of the 24 Hours of Le Mans where the first free practice session took place this Wednesday afternoon. The Aston Martin of D’Station Racing (number 777) in the hands of Stevensson went off the track before coming to a stop in the middle of the track.

Yellow flags were quickly displayed to warn other competitors. While some were able to slow down and avoid the Aston Martin, the Tower Motorsports Oreca 07 arriving at high speed crashed into the vehicle.

Steven Thomas, at the wheel of the n°7 was evacuated to the mobile clinic to undergo examinations but the two drivers luckily escaped without injury. Defending champion, the Toyota n°8 set the best time of this session disrupted by a red flag following the collision.
