The Manchester wall at France-Switzerland time, seen by Stan Wawrinka. Capture
The Swiss, winner of the 2014 Davis Cup, posted a video during Switzerland’s entry against France this Tuesday in Manchester.
A slow tour of the stadium. To film empty chairs. Before his entry into contention against Ugo Humbert (after the match between Adrian Mannarino and Adrian Stricker), Stan Wawrinka, who had in mind the noise of the full stadiums of the US Open, published a video on X to show the empty stadium of Manchester, setting for Group B matches of the Davis Cup.
The Davis Cup, with its constantly revised formula (deprived of the away-home matches which nourished its legend) is struggling to regain its former glory. And Wawrinka (winner of the 2014 Davis Cup with Roger Federer against Switzerland) graciously thanks Gérard Piqué at the origin in 2019 of the renovation of the prestigious event and the International Federation.
