The anti-inflation quarter probably renewed

The easing of food prices is taking longer than expected. To cushion the shock while waiting for manufacturers to return to the negotiating table, the government on Thursday asked distributors to renew purchasing power protection measures.

Since March 15, baskets at tight prices have been offered on the shelves under the “anti-inflation quarter” logo. The composition of these baskets varies according to the distributors (100 Carrefour brand food products at 2 euros, 500 at Intermarché, 150 at Système U, etc.) On June 15, these baskets, on average 5% cheaper, expired. The government gathered the distributors in Bercy on Thursday to ask them to renew them.

Distributors will continue to carry out anti-inflation operations, including within the framework of the anti-inflation quarter.»

School supplies could be included in anticipation of the start of the school year. System U extends its basket until the end of the year. Carrefour will also continue its operations.

But all also agree on the fact that only a return of manufacturers to the negotiating table is able to calm the labels. However, almost none have responded to the government’s call so far. Bercy will receive industrial representatives next Wednesday.
