In Kazakhstan, on suspicion of phishing, access to the website of the Bureau of Industry and Security of the US Department of Commerce (BIS) was restricted. The authorities of the republic said that the order to block the site was prepared in the spring.
According to NUR.KZ, when checking the resource on the official website of the Ministry of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, a message appears stating that the site was blocked for disseminating deliberately false information.
The publication, citing other media, also notes that the American site could be blocked due to the publication that Kazakhstan allegedly helps Russia to byp sanctions. These data were later refuted by the Kazakh ministry. They said that on April 26, “for 21 phishing resources, including the site bis.doc.gov, a corresponding order was prepared and sent for execution to restrict access to them.”
The authorities of the republic also intend to conduct an additional check for violations, and if they are not found, then access to the site can be restored.
In August, the website of the Russian TV channel Tsargrad was blocked on the territory of Kazakhstan. The Minister of Information and Social Development of the Republic, Darkhan Kydyrali, said that the restriction of access to the resource is connected with measures to protect information security, and urged not to politicize this topic.
