The cut for Martin Trainer in Puerto Rico
Even if the Arnold Palmer Invitational is the juggernaut of the week, given the quality of its line-up, a second PGA Tour tournament is taking place in parallel, in Puerto Rico. He is currently dominated by the American Carson Young, monstrous Thursday (-9 with three eagles) and who remained very hot this Friday (-14 in total). He is ahead of the Colombian Nicolas Echavarria and the American Paul Haley (-10).
Winner of the Puerto Rico Open in 2019, Martin Trainer will play this weekend but got a real scare. Born in Marseille, the one who chose last year to play under the French banner with the Paris 2024 Olympics in the sights, abandoning the American, could only play in Par during the second round. He was finally able to stay above the cut (-1) without a really comfortable margin (-2). He ranks 54th out of the last 60 players still in contention.
