The death of Figen, who set herself on fire, is being investigated

Figen Çoban (40), mother of three children, who set herself on fire by pouring gasoline on her in the Yatağan district of Muğla, lost her life. An investigation has been launched into the suspicious death of Çoban.

The incident occurred on January 21 at 10:00 in the Dağdibi location of Yeşilbağcılar District of Yatağan.
Süleyman Çoban (43), calling the 112 Emergency Call Center, reported that his aunt Figen Çoban had died. After the notification, gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene.
The body of Çoban, who was stated to have lost his life by pouring gasoline on him and setting himself on fire, was taken to Muğla Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy after the gendarmerie and prosecutor’s investigations at the scene.
2 PEOPLE RELEASED
By the order of the Yatağan Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, the gendarmerie teams detained Figen Çoban’s wife Mehmet Çoban (44) and her brother-in-law Süleyman Çoban.
The Çoban brothers, who were transferred to the courthouse on January 22 after the proceedings, were released on the condition of judicial control, with a ban on leaving the country.
INVESTIGATION STARTED
Following the autopsy at the Muğla Forensic Medicine Institute, Figen Çoban’s body was buried in Yatağan’s Turgut Neighborhood Cemetery on 22 January.
