Orthopedics associate professor Osman Civan, who received 200 thousand TL from his patient in Antalya under the name of ‘knife money’, was arrested.

Associate Professor at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgical Sciences, Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology. Dr. Osman Civan allegedly demanded 200 thousand liras from his unnamed patient for surgery money. The patient said that he would give the remaining money to the doctor, to whom he gave 160 thousand liras before the operation, and then went to the police station and filed a complaint.

When the patient handed over the remaining 40 thousand liras yesterday, the police took action, Assoc. Dr. Osman Civan was detained in his room at the hospital. Osman Civan, who underwent a health check, was taken to the Antalya Police Department Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch Office for his statement to be taken.

After his procedures in the police, Assoc. Dr. Osman Civan was arrested by the judge from which he was issued.

Assoc. Dr. Osman Civan came to the agenda with the incident of being beaten in the hospital 11 years ago. Osman Civan was beaten by the companion of a patient who came to the hospital for treatment during his shift in the hospital’s emergency room. (DHA)
