The European Parliament called on the Ministry of Internal Affairs to issue an arrest warrant for Lukashenko

On Wednesday, September 13, the European Parliament voted for a resolution on relations with Belarus, which calls on the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant for Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko. The report also states that Lukashenko is involved in the war against Ukraine on an equal footing with Vladimir Putin. This is reported on the website of the European Parliament.

Earlier in the day, the leader of the Belarusian opposition in exile, Svetlana Tykhanovskaya, addressed the European parliamentarians. “Belarusians want to hear that their country will not be given to Putin as a consolation prize.” She called on the deputies to support the European perspective for Belarus and raise relations between Europe and democratic forces in Belarus to a new level.

Tykhanovskaya called for the adoption of a memorandum strengthening relations between the European Parliament and the opposition democrats of Belarus, who are fighting against the Lukashenko regime.

According to Tykhanouskaya, the opposition will need support in the struggle to establish democracy in Belarus. Lukashenko does not deserve a place in the international community, but a ticket to the international court in The Hague, said the leader of the Belarusian opposition.

As reported by the NEXTA telegram channel, the European Parliament recognized the Belarusian dictator Lukashenko as complicit in the war against Ukraine along with Putin, and also called on the International Criminal Court to issue a warrant for his arrest.

The text of the resolution is published on the website of the European Parliament.
