The French women’s team stops in the semi-finals of the Vancouver Sevens Series



End of the adventure for the French women’s team at the Sevens Series in Vancouver. Les Bleues lost to New Zealand in the semi-finals on Sunday evening (36-7).

After three minutes of play, Stacey Waaka scored the first try of the game. She traveled 50 meters before slipping an offering to Sarah Hirini after contact two minutes later (10-0). The French had approached five meters from the New Zealand in-goal but they were punished by Tyla Nathan-Wong before the break.

Les Bleues fall against stronger

The Black Ferns’ attacking display continued in the second half with goals from Michaela Blyde, Jazmin Felix-Hotham and Waaka’s brace. Jade Ulutule saved the honor with her fourth try of the weekend but the Bleues were too short physically to compete with the New Zealanders.

The French therefore stop at the gates of the final and will face the Americans for third place. The final will oppose New Zealand to Australia, which crushed the United States in the other semi-final (38-0).
