the gendarmes withdraw his animals from Laurent Levacher, farmer of season 15 for suspicion of mistreatment

The former participant in the M6 dating show had appeared a short time ago in “TPMP” to talk about the difficulty of being a peasant.
The Osaâne farm, oriented towards sustainable agriculture and belonging to Laurent Levacher, says, on the first page of its website, “respectful of the environment and the well-being of its animals”. Unfortunately, the reality seems different at this establishment owned by the farmer who participated in season 15 of “Love is in the meadow” on M6.
Breaches of animal protection rules
This Friday, March 10 in the morning, the veterinary services of the Departmental Directorate for the Protection of Populations (DDPP) and the gendarmerie intervened, with the support of the Brigitte-Bardot Foundation, in this farm located in Vatteville-la-Rue in Normandy to remove several cattle from the farm, as reported by the Courrier Cauchois. According to a press release from the prefecture.
” Administrative control operations that took place on the farm on March 7 under the technical guidance of the DDPP veterinary services had revealed a large number of serious breaches of animal protection rules, likely to constitute offences. These services have noted that the living and detention conditions of the cattle present on the farm are incompatible with the physiological needs of their species: lack of watering and a marked lack of quality feed. This lack of food intake results in a phenomenon of competition between the animals, some of which presented pathologies demonstrating an obvious lack of care.“.
The Courrier Cauchois also specifies that the veterinarians had to carry out the euthanasia of a bovine in great suffering and that the corpses of other animals were present on the farm. Laurent Levacher would have received warnings and formal notices since 2020 regarding the health status of his animals.
Many worries for the farmer
However, in her portrait broadcast on M6 during season 14 of “Love is in the meadow”, Karine Le Marchand specified: “It seems that for him, the animal condition is a priority”… For some time, Laurent Levacher had been experiencing multiple worries as he had confided on the set of “TPMP” on February 8 against Cyril Hanouna. He had thus explained that he had been cut off the power in November 2022 and that it was his new companion who helped him to put it back. He also mentioned health problems and in particular cysts that appeared in the lung during the Covid-19 epidemic requiring hospitalization.
However, he did not really talk about problems concerning his animals except the fact that he sometimes felt judged. “We take care of births where we have very sad moments and we judge you on that. They say “he’s a bad breeder”. Me, I chose animals in freedom rather than in building. It’s a choice but it’s more work and more monitoring.. He had also spoken of his love for his animals: “My name is Levacher and I love my cows, it’s a passion”.
Note that the animals of Laurent Levacher who were taken by the Departmental Directorate for the Protection of Populations (DDPP) and the gendarmerie will be welcomed in other farms. ” They will be individually examined, treated, tested against diseases before being placed with partner breeders of the Brigitte-Bardot Foundation.explains the prefecture.
