The leader Oyonnax easily disposed of his runner-up Agen 24 to 9 during the shock of the eleventh day of Pro D2, and widened the gap on the second, now Grenoble, victorious from Soyaux-Angoulême, Friday.
With 40 points, the Ain club is seven points ahead of Grenoble and nine over Vannes (3rd) and Biarritz (4th), who won respectively against Béziers (16-10) and Massy (28- 17). Agen, 5th, has a second consecutive loss after Soyaux-Angoulême. Undefeated for two months, Oyonnax is on his side with five victories in a row.
Carried by the opener Jules Soulan, author of 12 points in the first half, the Aindinois perfectly contained the Agenais, unable to cross the curtain deployed by their opponent. Théo Millet (66th) and Enzo Reybier (73rd) sealed the success of the “Oyomen” by scoring two tries in the last quarter of an hour.
Thursday, Provence Rugby (7th) had snatched a precious success in the last minute against Mont-de-Marsan (20-19), his third victory in a row.
In the second part of the table, Massy (last with 13 points) and Béziers (15th) continue their bad series, while Carcassonne (14th) breathes after beating Rouen (22-19). Nevers (12th), defeated in Aurillac (23-16), is dangerously close to the relegation zone with only three points ahead of Béziers, the first team virtually demoted.
