The No. 8 Toyota sets the fastest time in first free practice at Sebring
The n°51 Ferrari 499P (Pier Guidi – Calado – Giovinazzi), despite its accident during the second day of the Prologue at Sebring last Sunday, and the need to replace the damaged chassis, came close to dominating the first free practice session on the Florida circuit, Wednesday. But the n°8 Toyota, with Ryo Hirakawa at the wheel, set the best time in the last moments of the session, in 1’47″649. The Italian prototype finished 28 hundredths, the only one with the GR010 below 1’48.
The second red and yellow Hypercar, the n°50 (Fuoco – Molina – Nielsen) took third place, 39 hundredths ahead of the Cadillac n°2 (Bamber – Lynn – Westbrook), 44 hundredths, and the second Toyota , the n°7 (Conway – Kobayashi – Lopez), at 96 hundredths, the last Hypercar in the same second as the Toyota n°8.
The Peugeots over a second and a half
The two Porsche 963s follow, the n°6 (Estre – Lotterer – Vanthoor) and the n°5 (Cameron – Christensen – Makowiecki), at 1” and 1”3, then the two Peugeot 9X8, the n°94 (Duval – Menezes – Müller) and n°93 (Di Resta – Jensen – Vergne), at 1″6 and 1″7, which therefore still do not seem to be in the rhythm of the best.
The last two Hypercars, the Glickenhaus n°708 (Dumas – Briscoe – Pla) and the Vanwall n°4 (Dillmann – Guerrieri – Villeneuve), find themselves 16th and 20th, 3″ and 3″3 ahead of the LMP2s , including the first of them, the Prema Racing n°63 (1’50″074), that of the Frenchwoman Doriane Pin, accompanied by Miko Bortolotti and Daniil Kvyat. The fastest of the GTE Am is the Porsche 911 of the women’s team Iron Dames (Bovy – Gatting – Frey), with a time of 1’59″028.
