The State Duma proposed the creation of directorates for children’s broadcasting on TV channels

The first deputy head of the State Duma Committee on Education, Yana Lantratova, took the initiative to create directorates for children’s and youth broadcasting on television channels with state participation to produce educational and entertainment content. This was reported by T with reference to the deputy’s appeal to the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergey Kravtsov and the Minister of Digital Development of the Russian Federation Maksut Shadayev.

“I ask you, dear Maksut Igorevich, to consider, together with interested structures, the initiative to create directorates for children’s and youth broadcasting and present the position of the ministry on this issue,” the document says.

According to Lantratova, there is a need for the production of programs aimed at preserving traditional socio-cultural values. In this regard, she proposes to create directorates for children’s and youth broadcasting on TV channels that would develop such programs for children and adolescents.

Earlier today, the State Duma adopted a law on full state funding of feature films for children and teenagers. According to the document, filmmakers can receive 100% financing for the production and distribution of the film. In October 2022, such an instruction was given by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The head of state has repeatedly stressed the importance of educating the younger generation. In May 2022, he stated that issues related to instilling in children the values of patriotism, respect for national history and culture are among the “significant national tasks.” In October, Putin called for “transferring to the children the moral, cultural code of our people,” as well as stopping “any attempts to impose alien values on children.”
